What our clients think of us:

Any Questions about our Sydney Sports Podiatry clinic?

Read our FAQ below

Do I need a referral to see a Movement 101 Occupational Therapist?
No, you don’t need a referral. You can contact us here to make an enquiry or an appointment.
Can I claim for my Occupational Therapy sessions?
Yes, most major health funds cover occupational therapy services. Alternatively, you may be able to claim through Medicare:
  • Between 5- 10 sessions through Medicare with a form from your doctor, depending on the diagnosis
  • Through private health funds, depending on your level of cover.
  • For children’s occupational therapy through government schemes like Better Start and Helping Children with Autism.
What are Gross Motor Skills?
They are skills for activities such as sports, bike riding, skipping, hopping and balance that use larger muscle groups.  To carry them out successfully, children need a blend of strength, coordination and planning skills.
What are Fine Motor Skills?
They are skills for activities such as tying shoe laces, drawing, handwriting, cutting, using a knife and fork, zippering and buttoning that use smaller muscle groups in the hands. To carry them out successfully, children require finger strength, control and dexterity.
What is Sensory Processing?
Sensory information is messages we receive from our senses, including taste, smell, sight, hearing, and touch, as well as muscles and joints that help us work out space and force, and the inner ear for balance. Kids with sensory processing issues have difficulty organising and responding to this information. They might be over sensitive, under sensitive or both.
As a result, they may dislike or become agitated by:
  • Touch
  • Activities like brushing/washing hair, brushing teeth
  • The volume or frequency of some sounds
  • Getting messy
  • The feel of fabrics, tags, etc.
  • Touch
  • Bright lights
How is Occupational Therapy different to Physiotherapy?
Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy are quite different services. However, there are common areas, which is why they do get confused. Both physiotherapists and occupational therapists are trained extensively in musculoskeletal system anatomy, injuries and rehabilitation. Occupational Therapists evaluate and improve people’s functional abilities. Physiotherapists focus on issues with movement. At Movement 101, several of our team are fully qualified Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists. This deeper understanding of function and movement, means they can provide you with a more comprehensive and effective treatment and rehabilitation.
