Sydney is lucky to be blessed with warm weather and a lot of fun ways to cool off. Apart from the beautiful beaches, Sydney has fanciful local playgrounds with water features scattered around. Located in Marrickville, Steel Park Waterplay Park is a unique playground with a wide range of activities for kids of ages and abilities.

It also demonstrates an environmental processing action, using all areas of the water cycle. The water playground is the perfect solution to the hot spring and summer days – these periods can be quite awful for kids. More importantly, it's completely free. But the Steel Park Waterplay Park is only opened between 10 am and 6 pm, starting from October until March each year.

Steel Park Waterplay Park Amazing Features

The Steel Park Waterplay Park features a water play area and fun playground amongst lots of shady trees. The playground features small and large slides, swings and a seesaw, a climbing frame, a large flying fox, and a star attraction. The water playground is also designed to be eco-friendly, utilizing recycled water collected from the roof of the sports centre near the park. The water is afterward treated and reused.

Your kids can run past water jets, walk through a shallow spiral stream, with each of the park feature aimed to reflect the natural world. The sprawling sporting grounds that surround the park also give it a great feeling of space. The park has undercover space with picnic tables, a lot of electric barbecues, and several trees, making the park a fantastic venue for a birthday party or picnic.

However, keep in mind that the Steel Park Waterplay Park is not fenced and has close proximity to the rivers, so you need to keep a close eye on your kids. Nevertheless, the Steel Park Waterplay Park is one of the inner west’s most beautiful waterplay parks.

Facilities and Restaurants Surrounding Steel Park Waterplay Park

There is a car park in the adjoining Steel Park Waterplay Park or along the Illawarra Road. Also, there is a café on the far side of the park beyond the sporting oval. The water play park is also a short walk across the river to the Adora Chocolates, where you can get coffee and amazing chocolate. Across the road from the centre is the Popular modern Greek and Australian cafe Georgia’s Kitchen, which is a fully licensed café serving meals, coffee, and snacks till the evening hours.

The park shows that you don’t necessarily have to spend a lot of money to have a good time with your kids. Steel Park Waterplay Park is so well thought and cleverly designed.
